It was always around as an option for those who cared about people.

Working remotely is not a new phenomenon. At one of the organizations where I worked earlier, we had this concept of 'Family Days' where we had to work from our remote and designated office location on days that it rained very badly in Mumbai.

Abroad, it's the equivalent of 'Snow Days' or being snowed in. Different circumstances, same feeling. The biggest of problems (Traffic, Rain, Commuting) sometimes need the simplest of solutions. And that's how people know, they are cared for.
